Clear Your Internet Browser's Cache

Below are instructions to "temporarily" clear your browser's cache. Scroll to the bottom and you will find directions to turn off caching in your browser.

TEMPORARILY CLEAR YOUR BROWSER'S CACHE

Internet Explorer 7

1. Click the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
2. Select the General tab.
3. Under "Browsing History" click "Delete."
4. In the new window, click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files section.

Internet Explorer 6

1. Click the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
2. Select the General tab.
3. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files section and click OK.

Firefox 1.5 / 2.0 / 3.0

1. Click the Tools menu and select Clear Private Data.
2. Remove checks from everything except cache. Leave cache checked.
3. Click Clear Private Data Now.

Firefox 1.0

1. Click the Tools menu and select Options.
2. Click the Privacy button and select the Cache tab.
3. Click the Clear Cache Now button.

Chrome

1. Select the tools menu.
2. Select Clear Browsing data....
3. Select the Empty the cache checkbox.
4. Select the period of time for which you wish to delete cached information using the Clear data from this period: dropdown menu.
5. Click the Clear Browsing Data button.

Opera

1. Select the Tools menu and click Delete Private Data.
2. Click the Details button.
3. If you do not wish to delete cookies, saved passwords, etc., remove checks from them in the list.
4. Press Delete.

Safari

1. Click the Safari menu and select Empty Cache.
2. Confirm the action by clicking Empty in the pop-up window.

TURN OFF CACHING IN YOUR BROWSER

Safari - As you might expect from Apple made software, "Safari doesn’t have a setting to control the cache." As usual, Apple wants to control your experience, so you have to do it Apple's way which means manually deleting your cache.

Internet Explorer - To completely disable browser caching or to force the browser to check for a new version of each page it visits, in Internet Explorer, click “Tools,” “Internet Options,” “Temporary Internet Files,” “Settings.” Then under “Check for newer versions of stored pages,” select “Every time I visit the webpage.”

Firefox - To completely disable browser caching or to force the browser to check for a new version of each page it visits, in Firefox, click on “Tools,” “Options,” then click on the “Network” tab. Under “Offline Storage,” put a 0 in the number of MB that Firefox should use for the cache. If you find that your Web browsing slows down considerably, you can change the number to something larger - just remember that this will turn your browser cache back on.
