If your mail is hosted with WebsiteValet.com or Tim Taricco, you can follow the instructions below for setting up your e-mail.

Setting Up To Receive Your Mail

To set up your e-mail software, you need to know the following information. The account for name is used for the example.

User Name = name@yourdomain.com
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) = In most cases, use your local ISP's mail server (example: smtp.comcast.net). You can also use mail.yourdomain.com
Incoming Mail Server (POP3) = mail.yourdomain.com
Password = enter your password
Email Address = name@yourdomain.com

Setting Up Your Email in Microsoft Outlook 2003

  1. Click the Tools menu and choose Email Accounts…
  2. Choose Add a new email account and click the Next button.
  3. Choose POP3 and click the Next button.
  4. Complete the fields using the account information above.
    1. If you are using mail.yourdomain.com as your SMTP server, click the “More Settings…” button and choose the Outgoing Server tab. Select the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” checkbox, then select the “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” option.
    2. If you use your local ISP’s SMTP server (i.e. smtp.comcast.net), click the “More Settings…” button and choose the Outgoing Server tab. Select the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” checkbox, then select the “log on using” option. Fill in the User Name and Password with the info provided by your ISP (for Comcast, your User Name would be name@comcast.net). Click the OK button when finished to close the More Settings window.
  5. You are finished, click Next then Finish or continue to the next step for advanced features.
  6. If you want to be able to access your mail from work and from home or from anywhere else in the world, click the “More Settings…” button and choose the Advanced tab.
  7. Under the Delivery heading, choose “Leave a copy of messages on server,” and “Remove from server after 14 days.” Click the OK button when finished to close the More Settings window.
  8. You are finished, click Next then Finish.

If you have set up your mail to be “left on the mail server,” you can access your mail from a Web browser on any computer is the world. Try testing it out at http://mail.yourdomain.com. Enter your e-mail address and password and all your mail will be available. You will find this to be very handy while you are away from the office.
